Sports Day came to Heathlands Village recently as The Fed’s Children’s Centre organised an aftenoon of running, jumping and challenges on the lawns of the Prestwich Care Home.

Nine youngsters – all service-uses of the Children’s Centre – took turns with races and games in the sunshine, with residents of Heathlands Village and their relatives acting as referees, race stewards and medal presenters.

“Intergenerational fun is such an important part of work The Fed does,” said Fed Play Leader Carol Booth.

“When we can bring together the youngest and oldest people we care for, the results are wonderful to see – the smiles on the faces of the residents show how much joy they get from interacting with the children – who always have fun playing in the gardens.
