The Welfare Service, Welfare Committee, our team of loyal staff, volunteers, youngsters from the local Jewish Schools and the Ladies from the League of Jewish Women work hard to ensure that all residents are given every opportunity to enjoy a full, varied and interesting social life.
Activities include:
- Sing-a-longs – Every week the residents, who want to attend, have a sing-along to all their favourite tunes.
- Quizzes – The residents at The Heathlands Village are encouraged to keep their minds active with regular quizzes testing their general knowledge.
- Bingo – Our residents love the chance of winning prizes at Bingo
- Concerts – We put on regular concerts to keep the residents entertained in the evenings.
- Current Affairs – The residents are keen to keep up-to date on local, national and international issues so we have frequent meetings to discuss world news.
- Arts and Crafts - Our fabulous arts and crafts room provides residents with a place to use their creative talents they were often unaware of and paint or sketch beautiful pictures.
- Games – Scrabble, bridge, dominoes, draughts and much more are always available for residents to play when they have some time to spare.
- Multi-Sensory Room - Our residents enjoy the calm atmosphere with soft lights, soothing music and fibre optics.
- Computer Lessons - Our dedicated computer room provides residents with an opportunity to learn basic I.T. skills and keep in touch with their families and friends around the world.
- Reminiscence - We hold reminiscence sessions with residents to discuss the past and encourage stimulation of the mind.
- Library - We have an extensive library which is open at all times of the day or night.
Our day trips continue to be a huge success. This year by popular demand we revisited the Lake District where we enjoyed the breathtaking views on the 3-hour lake Cruise. Our annual trip to Donisthorpe and St Annes Synagogue were as always very popular.
We are constantly reviewing our calendar of activities and plan to introduce a state of the art cinema shortly to hold regular film evenings.
